This race was expected as one of the stronger runnings of this distinctive 7-furlong contest for female horses. Yet, veterinary inspections resulted in multiple withdrawals this morning, including leading runners Sweet Azteca as well as Tamara.

As a result, the lineup now appears significantly reduced, but trainer Bob Baffert stands a strong chance to secure a twentieth Breeders’ Cup victory. His entrants include Richi and Splendora, whereas Hope Road, victor in the G1 Ballerina Stakes, is viewed as the main challenger.
