First Lady's Digital Currency Creators Facing Pump-and-Dump Scam Lawsuit

The designers responsible for a cryptocurrency launched by US First Lady Melania Trump have been charged in federal papers of executing a fraudulent operation.

Coin Release and Price Surge

The $MELANIA cryptocurrency were released for a minimal price each on January 19, just prior to former President Trump was inaugurated.

In addition to the Melania cryptocurrency, Donald Trump introduced his personal token just ahead of the swearing-in event.

Within hours, the market value of the $MELANIA coin surged to over $13 per unit.

Rapid Decline in Value

Nevertheless, the market price subsequently crashed just as rapidly, and presently trades for only about 10 cents – below 1% of its highest value.

At the same time, the $TRUMP token achieved a maximum of nearly forty-six dollars and now trades for under six dollars.

Legal Allegations and Plaintiffs' Position

The investors allege that the token's architects planned the scheme aware that the digital currency's value would crash.

The First Lady personally is not mentioned in the court case. Investors stated they do not believe she was at fault, but accused the crypto companies of leveraging her and other prominent figures as a cover for their illegal activities.

Trading Venue Role

As per fresh federal filings, investors allege leaders of the Meteora cryptocurrency exchange, where $MELANIA was first exchanged, of creating a plan that permitted them to discreetly acquire significant amounts of the cryptocurrency.

Their partners then quickly resold these virtual tokens, pocketing substantial profits while causing the value to crash, as stated in documents filed in federal court in Manhattan.

Wider Proceedings

The charges regarding the First Lady's coin have been included in court cases involving multiple additional virtual tokens, which started in spring.

The Trump organization has reportedly secured in excess of a billion dollars in pre-tax gains from several digital currency-linked products and companies over the previous twelve months.
