The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles

In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The feature will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is set to release around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed three new games already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
